Hy-Vee announces the closure of a grocery store in Collins Road

This store will be shutting down soon.

Hy-Vee, an Iowa-based grocery store chain, is set to close its Collins Road NE store in Cedar Rapids at 6 p.m. on January 9th.

Hy-Vee currently has 53 full-time employees, 141 part-time employees, and 1 person whose employment is not listed.

One positive change is that three other stores – in Moline, Ill.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Kansas City, Mo. – will be closing next year too. The Sioux Falls location will become a non-retail site and the Kansas City store will be converted to a third-party tenant space.

In a move that will be effective from January 1 next year, the Moline store will be permanently closed. All employees will have the opportunity to remain with the company at one of our other stores in each respective market and continue to earn their current pay and benefits if they so choose.

Customers have been largely satisfied with the move to Hy-Vee Pharmacy from Target. They’ll be receiving notification letters notifying them that their prescriptions will be transferred to a nearby branch or a pharmacy of their choosing in the future.

Hy-Vee has a net worth of more than $100 million and they have 285 retail stores in 8 states. It reported more than $12 billion in revenue last year.
