Hotel Guests Shut Out of Rooms After Ransomware Attack

This week, a popular Scandinavian hotel chain reported that it was hit by a ransomware attack. It may have been the cause of sensitive or personal information being hacked, as well as the theft of bookings. A hotel chain called Nordic Choice operates 200 locations across the region, with brands such as Clarion, Quality, and Comfort.

Nordic Choice admitted that they were affected by a ransomware attack that happened last Thursday, which impacted their reservation system, check-in, and check-out. Guests had to be escorted to their rooms so that they could get into their rooms & have access to it.

Guests at the hotel experienced difficulties when it came to checking in, as more seem to be affected by a recent cyber attack. On Monday, Nordic Choice Hotels finally mentioned that customers’ woes were due to a large-scale cyber attack.

Conti has been responsible for a number of high-profile attacks that have caused a lot of damage to organizations in Ireland and the US. Nordic Choice claims to have put replacement solutions in place at most of its hotels. It says that its investigation did not indicate that data was leaked, but it’s still unable to fully guarantee the safety of travelers.
